Learning From The Master>
2 And after He had fasted forty days and forty nights, He then became
hungry.

This second verse is often read through without much thought by
most Christians.  The key word in this verse was he
FASTED!  This
act of faith is one of the
MOST IMPORTANT STEPS!  Abstaining from
food in of itself (the action) is not powerful.  Abstaining from food to
commune with God and spend time with Him more
WILL INCREASE
YOUR HUNGER, SPIRITUAL HUNGER
!  You can over eat and become
physically overweight or eat very little and become skinny.  The
same can occur in our spiritual lives.  Make sure you fast for the
right motive (not to lose 5-10 pounds) or to brag about how many
days you fasted (God will direct you on this).  The key to a
successful fast is spending the time you would eat normally and
give it to God.  He will strength you and encourage you as you face
the battles that are waiting ahead.  Jesus does this by going into
battle
PREPARED SPIRITUALLY!  Athletes PREPARE before a race by
PRACTICING what they are going to do.  Should we not PREPARE
ourselves from the attacks of the enemy?  You
CAN NOT take on
the powers of darkness in
YOUR own strength.  You CAN NOT
expected to be successful
UNTIL you have PREPARED for the battle.
Most Christians wait UNTIL the battle has already started in their
situation before doing something to correct it.  God has already
promised us
VICTORY over Satan, but we must FOLLOW HIS (GOD'S)
DIRECTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS!
